Autumn 2026 is the last sitting in the current FRCPath Part 2 format. RCPath has confirmed the new format begins Spring 2027. If you're sitting Part 2 this autumn, this mock exam is your chance to practise under the current format with expert guidance.
Why Mock Practice Matters for Part 2
FRCPath Part 2 is fundamentally different from Part 1. Part 1 tests theoretical knowledge through MCQs. Part 2 tests practical diagnostic capability — can you look at a slide, reach the correct diagnosis, and write a structured report that meets consultant-level standards?
The short cases component is where many candidates struggle most. You're shown a histopathology slide with minimal clinical information and asked to provide a diagnosis and key features — rapidly and accurately. The difference between passing and failing often comes down to pattern recognition speed and confidence under pressure.
Mock exams under real conditions — followed by expert feedback telling you exactly where your reasoning went wrong — are the closest thing to sitting the actual exam. There is no substitute for this type of practice.

What's the difference between this mock and the full mock test in August?
This July 18 mock focuses specifically on short surgical cases and long cases — two of the six FRCPath Part 2 exam sections. The full mock test in August 2026 will cover all six sections (short cases, long cases, OSPE, cytopathology, frozen sections, macroscopy) for comprehensive exam simulation closer to the actual exam date.
