Expert Feedback

Answer checking and personalised feedback by Dr. Maitrayee Roy (MD FRCPath), followed by model answer discussion.

The FRCPath Part 2 examination is a two-day practical exam that tests whether you can function as an independent diagnostic histopathologist. The short cases section is one of the most challenging components — it demands rapid pattern recognition, confident IHC interpretation, and the ability to reach a diagnosis under time pressure.

This mock short exam gives you exactly that practice — real exam-style cases, timed conditions, and detailed feedback from an examiner who holds the FRCPath qualification herself.

Full Mock Test
A complete FRCPath Part 2 mock test will be conducted closer to the Autumn 2026 exam date, covering all six sections.
Autumn 2026 is the last sitting in the current FRCPath Part 2 format. RCPath has confirmed the new format begins Spring 2027. If you're sitting Part 2 this autumn, this mock exam is your chance to practise under the current format with expert guidance.

Why Mock Practice Matters for Part 2

FRCPath Part 2 is fundamentally different from Part 1. Part 1 tests theoretical knowledge through MCQs. Part 2 tests practical diagnostic capability — can you look at a slide, reach the correct diagnosis, and write a structured report that meets consultant-level standards?

The short cases component is where many candidates struggle most. You're shown a histopathology slide with minimal clinical information and asked to provide a diagnosis and key features — rapidly and accurately. The difference between passing and failing often comes down to pattern recognition speed and confidence under pressure.

Mock exams under real conditions — followed by expert feedback telling you exactly where your reasoning went wrong — are the closest thing to sitting the actual exam. There is no substitute for this type of practice.

What the FRCPath Part 2 exam actually tests

This mock short exam covers the first two components — short surgical cases and long cases — which together carry the heaviest weight in the examination.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is included in the mock short exam?
The mock includes short surgical cases (rapid diagnosis from histopathology images) and long cases (extended diagnostic workups). You complete them under timed conditions, submit your answers, and receive personalised written feedback from Dr. Maitrayee Roy (MD FRCPath). A model answer discussion session follows.
Why only 15 slots?
Each participant receives personalised, case-by-case feedback from Dr. Maitrayee Roy. To maintain the quality and depth of that feedback, we limit each mock exam to 15 candidates. This isn't artificial scarcity — it's about ensuring every participant gets genuinely useful, detailed commentary on their diagnostic approach.
How do I register?
WhatsApp +91 82954 18389 with your name, country, and planned Part 2 sitting date. We'll confirm your slot and send exam details. Slots are first-come, first-served.
Is this online or in-person?
Online. Cases are delivered digitally (histopathology images). You complete your answers remotely and submit for review. The model answer discussion is a live online session. You can participate from anywhere — India, Pakistan, UK, Gulf, or any other country.
What's the difference between this mock and the full mock test in August?
This July 18 mock focuses specifically on short surgical cases and long cases — two of the six FRCPath Part 2 exam sections. The full mock test in August 2026 will cover all six sections (short cases, long cases, OSPE, cytopathology, frozen sections, macroscopy) for comprehensive exam simulation closer to the actual exam date.
Is Autumn 2026 really the last Part 2 sitting in the current format?
Yes. RCPath has confirmed that Autumn 2026 is the last sitting of the current examination format. The new format begins Spring 2027. If you're planning to sit Part 2 under the format you've been preparing for, Autumn 2026 is your final opportunity.
Who is Dr. Maitrayee Roy?
Dr. Maitrayee Roy is an MD FRCPath — she holds both an Indian MD in Pathology and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK). She is the co-founder of eLearningFRCPath and has guided hundreds of candidates through FRCPath Part 1 and Part 2 preparation. Her long case videos and diagnostic PDFs are widely regarded as among the best Part 2 preparation resources available.
What if all 15 slots are filled?
Once all slots are taken, registration closes for this mock. The next opportunity will be the full mock test in August 2026. We recommend registering as soon as possible — WhatsApp us now to confirm your spot.
